In a heartbreaking discovery, a good Samaritan found a paralyzed 3-month-old German shepherd puppy abandoned on the side of the road and clinging to life in western Washington. The dog, whose name is Heidi, was brought to Sunny Sky’s Animal Rescue where she was assessed. Initially, rescuers at Sunny Sky remained hopeful because Heidi was showing signs of movement in her tail, and her limbs. However, all hope was diminished when a few days after her intake, she was unable to move any of her limbs, or even stand on her own.
A representative with Sunny Sky’s Animal Rescue took to their Facebook page and wrote the sad news saying:
“We have an urgent plea for Heidi, the 3-month-old paralyzed puppy that came into our rescue last week. Her situation recently took a turn for the worse and she no longer has any movement or sensation to her hind legs. An MRI is urgently needed to see if there is a chance of restoring her ability to walk, whether through surgery or ongoing medical care. Please help us in coming together to save Heidi!”
Thankfully, the shelters please for help went answered when a community of animal lover rallied around the young pup and raised some of the money needed to perform an MRI. The rescue group took to their Facebook page to thank everyone saying,
“We can’t thank our amazing supporters enough for all the donations received for Heidi’s care! Heidi has an MRI scheduled for tomorrow morning, and we’re hoping to be able to raise the rest of the initial funds before then! We are only $600 away!”
If you or someone you know is interested in helping young Heidi receive the medical attention she needs, please visit Sunny Sky’s fundraiser page for more information. In the meantime, please keep this precious pup in your thoughts and in your hearts.
