Sun City woman cuts dog’s legs: Wanted to ‘die with her dog’

In Sun City, Arizona, authorities have arrested a woman after she allegedly cut her dog’s legs with a knife leaving the animal with serious injuries, reports AbcNews.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department stated Dawn Courson was arrested on Thursday afternoon on an outstanding warrant for assault and disorderly conduct as she was being interviewed about her attack on her 80-pound dog.  An investigation showed Courson had used a knife to inflict deep lacerations to the dog’s legs. The profusely bleeding dog was rushed to the Palm Glen Animal Hospital for emergency treatment. Courson, 53, told authorities she “wanted to die with her dog.”

“This is a horrific crime to an innocent dog,” stated Sheriff Joe Arpaio, an ardent animal lover. “Animal cruelty is a crime that I will continue to pursue any time that it occurs.”

Courson remains in jail and is expected to face animal cruelty charges.
