The Amanzimtoti SPCA in South Africa came across a gruesome discovery after they discovered a dog with a clamp drilled into his back leg. On Monday morning, rescuers responded to the Chatsworth area after someone reported seeing a stray roaming the streets with what appeared to be a chain attached to his leg.
SPCA manager Tracey Girling released a statement on the incident saying,
“Apparently the dog had been hanging around in the area for three days. It blows my mind – just when I think I’ve seen all the cruelty humans can inflict on our precious animals, I encounter a new one.”
Girling said that the dog was rescued from the streets and immediately brought to a vet who examined him, working to remove the clamp before infection set in.
“I immediately rushed the dog to Dr Hoole as he was in pain and could barely put any weight on that leg. The doctor said it is a recent wound, as recent as 48-hours.These acts of cruelty put so much financial burden on the SPCA, as we pay for all the medical bills without any way of recouping the cost. This lovely dog will need lots of TLC and hopefully will be adopted by a loving family. Now we just pray for a speedy recovery for him.”
Thankfully the dog survived and is presently recovering after having the clamp surgically removed. Police are looking for his owner, and anyone with information is asked to visit the SPCA Amanzimtoti Facebook page to report this case of abuse. Please keep this precious pup in your thoughts and in your hearts.
